Faculty of Engineering welcomed professors from National Institute of Technology (NIT)

On October 20th, 2017 at 01.30 am, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thira Jearsiripongkul (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan (Associate Dean for International Affairs and Sustainability), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nopadol Uchaipichat (Assistant Dean for Research), Asst. Prof. Dr. Monchai Prukvilailert (Head of Mechanical Engineering), Asst. Prof. Dr. Supachai Vorapojpisut, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nitikarn Nimsuk and Dr. Preeti Ovartchaiyapong welcomed Prof. Dr. Yorinobu Toya, Prof. Dr. Hideaki Aburatani, Prof. Dr. Manabu Shimakawa and Dr. Chiharu Okuma from National Institute of Technology (NIT), who visited the Faculty of Engineering to discuss the progress on Thammasat University’s internship students to Kosen in Japan.

Faculty of Engineering welcomed professors from Nagaoka University of Technology

On October 10th, 2017 at 9.00 am, Dr. Thira Jearsiripongkul (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), Dr. Montalee Sasananan (Associate Dean for International Affairs and Sustainability), Dr. Warounsak Liamlaem (Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs), and Dr. Krisada Chaiyasarn welcomed Dr. Masato Aketagawa, Dr. Hitoshi Haga, and Dr.Takashi Yukawa from Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), who visited the Faculty of Engineering to discuss the progress on the double degree program, and to facilitate student engagement in industrial internship. Each year NUT sends 4-5 students to the Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University to participate in industrial internship and cultural exchange.

Faculty of Engineering organized Thai cultural classes for international students.

On September 5, 2017 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan (Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Relations) organized Thai classical dance class for foreign students and Thai buddies at the Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus. Taught by Mrs. Chamreang Narkbumrung.

On August 10, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Pornchai Tarkulwaranont (Vice Rector for International Affairs) has accompanied Dr. Dunant Halim, Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering, Faculty Director of Teaching, the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China in a meeting with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapat Wangskarn (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan (Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Relations) to discuss possible cooperations in various areas at Room 202-2, Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.

Student interns from IUT of Angoulême presented their research projects

On June 14th, 2017, the following exchange students from IUT of Angoulême, France presented their research projects to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan, Assistant Dean for Foreign Affairs and Public Relations, Asst. Prof. Dr. Supachai Vorapojpisut, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Dr. Jakkrapun Chuanasa, Department of Mechanical Engineering. 1. Mr. Mathieu Minié (Research supervisor- Asst. Prof. Dr. Supachai Vorapojpisut) Research Topic - Creation of an OBDII Bluetooth Communication Application for Android Smartphone. 2. Mr. Louis-Baptiste Rabillon (Research supervisor- Dr. Jakkrapun Chuanasa) Research Topic - Robot Arm Modelling and Programming IUT of Angoulême, France has been sending students to participate in 2-month research internship projects at the Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University since 2016. This year the two students were present during 10th April- 17thJune 2017.

Faculty of Engineering welcomed City University of Hong Kong

On May 26, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan (Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Relations) welcomed Dr. Rosa H. M. Chan, Asst. Prof., Department of Electronic Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. The purpose of visit was to introduce research work and PhD scholarships and discuss possible collaborations. Dr. Rosa also gave lectures on brain-machine interface at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

On April 26, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapat Wangskarn (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan (Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Relations) welcomed Prof. Tsutomu Matsumoto, Ph. D., Japanese-Thai kosen, Institute of Engineering and Technology. The purpose of visit is to discuss about MOU contents and possibility of student internship.

Faculty of Engineering welcomed representative from Hiroshima University

On March 29, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapat Wangskarn (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan (Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Relations) along with lecturers and students from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering welcomed Prof. Shinichi Namba, Hiroshima University, who visited the Faculty of Engineering to introduce research on plasma and laser diagnostics, with emphasis on nuclear fusion, electronic propulsion (thruster), arc discharge for engineering applications, basic atomic and molecular physics, laser-produced plasma, development of x- ray sources, laser-matter interaction, and laser spectroscopy for diagnostics.

Faculty of Engineering offered special English courses for students

On 3rd February, 2017, the Faculty of Engineering presented certificate of appreciation to Mr. Amrish Bhatnagar, lecturer from BK Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology, India for his contribution to English training in Semester 2/2016. Besides teaching English, Mr. Amrish Bhatnagar also provided English editing services to the students and faculty members during 9th January – 6th February, 2017.

On January 13, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapat Wangskarn (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pipop Udorn (Dean of Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somchai Supattarakul (Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Director of Scholastic Management Aptitude Requirement Test (SMART) Center at Thammasat University), Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan (Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Relations) welcomed Dr. Tom O’Toole (Dean of International Affairs and Dean of Faculty of Business) and Professor Austin Coffey, Ph.D., Lecturer and Programme Director, Chair and Councillor of European Medical Polymers Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers, Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland. The meeting consisted of introduction to each institution, and discussion on possible research collaboration and student exchange.

The purpose of visit was to introduce the University and provide information about the “Young Scientist Scholarship” to students. TEP-TEPE and Auto - TU, faculty of Engineering welcomed representative from The University of New South Wales, Australia.

On 6th December 2016, Dr. Jiraprabha Kimsunthorn, (director of TEP-TEPE), Asst. Prof. Dr. Krit Jiamjiroch (Deputy Director (Public Relations and Foreign Affairs), and Dr. Supakit Prueksaaroon Deputy Director (Student Affairs) welcomed Dr.Iain Skinner, Senior Lecturer in Photonics from The University of New South Wales, Australia. The meeting was to discuss the progress of the new agreement on 2+2 collaboration.

Garcia M.D., R.N., RCh., Professor of Biological and Biomedical Engineering Program, School of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Engr. Febus Reidj G. Cruz, Professor of School of Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering and two students from Mapua Institute of Technology, Philippines. The meeting consisted of introduction to each institution., discussion on possible research collaboration, and student exchange.

Faculty of Engineering organized a training workshop on “English in Professional Communication” on 22-26 August 2016

Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University organized a training workshop on "English in Professional Communication" on 22-26 August 2016 at KC Grande Resort & Spa, Koh Chang, Trat Province. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Austin Coffey, Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland, Ms. Shalini Srivastava, BK Birla Institute of Engineering and Technology, India, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montalee Sasananan, Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Relations. The objective of the workshop was to provide knowledge and training of English in professional usage to the staff members of the Faculty of Engineering. The workshop was held in response to the University’s policy which recognized the importance of enhancing employees’ skills in English language as reflected by its newly established “Thammasat University Standardized Test for English Professional Skills (TU-STEPS).

Faculty of Engineering offered special English courses for students and staff members.

On 19th August, 2016, the Faculty of Engineering presented a certificate of appreciation to Ms. Shalini Srivastava, a lecturer from BK Birla Institute of Engineering and Technology (BKBIET), for her contribution to English training to the students and staff of the Faculty. In Semester 1/2016, the Faculty offered English courses for the students and staff members with the purpose of improving their communication skills. The invited lecturers were: Ms. Shalini Srivastava from BK Birla Institute of Engineering and Technology (BKBIET), India and Dr. Austin Coffey, Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland. Besides teaching English, they also gave advise to the Faculty members on editing their research paper in English.
